Global Partners offers a unique opportunity for students and scholars, both domestic and international, to share in a cultural exchange with a partner that has similar interests. Each international student will be matched with a domestic student according to language and geographical interest, major, hobbies, and gender. They will meet at their leisure throughout the semester, and engage in activities that interest them.
In addition to the individual dynamic of the program, GP sponsors a number of large group activities that allow students to interact with other students who share the same passion for internationalism. These events include community service, academic development, and entertainment.
Darrell Kendall, the Global Partners Coordinator is a MA student in the Center for Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies. He speaks Finnish, Russian, German, BCS (Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian), Sloven, and Spanish. In his travels, Darrell has visited, among other countries, Finland, Ecuador, Russia, and Austria. One of the things he enjoys most about this position is talking with the students in the program. He is in 300 Strong Hall from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. Monday through Friday and is always more than willing to talk with students that are interested in GP. Feel free to visit him in the International Programs office, call him at 864-4142, or email him at globalpartners@ku.edu.
