International Programs Staff
As Associate Vice Provost, Dr. Susan Gronbeck-Tedesco directs the day-to-day business of International Programs.
As Assistant Vice Provost, Dr. Hodgie Bricke is the campus representattive for the US Student Fulbright Program (IIE) and the Fulbright Scholar Program (CIES). She also assists graduate students with Boren Fellowship and German Academic Exchange Services (DAAD) applications. She oversees the development and signing of exchange agreeements between KU and its international partners. She serves as coodinator of the Junior Faculty Development Program (JFDP). Dr. Bricke has been with the office since 1989.
Dr. Juliet Kaarbo has responsibilities in IP that include administering a wide variety of faculty development programs to expand the international dimension of teaching and research at KU. As associate professor of political science, her areas of teaching and published research include foreign policy analysis, international politics, and political psychology. She has served on the faculty of the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva, Switzerland and recently completed a research fellowship at Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey.

Charlie Bankart's responsibilities include overseeing international grant development work and the permanent residency application process for international scholars, coordinating programming, and leading the Global Partners Program. Before coming to KU, Bankart served for six years in international education administration at Indiana University. He has worked for IP since August 2005.
Celeste Yaluk plans and coordinates meetings, projects and events for IP and liaisons with the Advisory Board and other affiliated organizations. She also assists with visiting international delegations.
Linda Harris' primary responsibility is to provide H1B services and permanent residency support to departments. This includes developing and enhancing immigration advising and resources for all international employees and visiting scholars. Prior to joining IP, Linda served for five years in the Office of International Student & Scholars Services at KU as an international student advisor.
Jenna Hunter coordinates the Global Awareness Program (GAP). She works with faculty, students, and staff to encourage undergraduates to take advantage of the international opportunities on and off campus that can lead to certification on student transcripts.
Malika Lyon assists departments with bringing visiting scholars to KU by providing information about the process, as well as the forms and documents necessary for securing visas. She welcomes the scholars upon their arrival, validates their program participation in the online SEVIS system, helps them to obtain required health insurance, and gives them an orientation to KU and Lawrence. She also serves as the coordinator for the Phi Beta Delta Honor Society for International Scholarship.
Alison Watkins is responsible for publications and website for International Programs, including the annual reports, the biannual Horizons newsletter, and brochures. She also handles press releases assists with press coverage for the office's three units: the Applied English Center, International Student and Scholar Services, and the Office of Study Abroad, and helps with special events. She also manages the International House.
Bette Luther manages the budgets for International Programs and works with the Budget Officers in AEC, ISSS and OSA. She also manages the faculty international travel fund and is the Personnel Related Staff person for IP.

Laurie is the Assistant to the Associate Vice Provosts. She is responsible for maintaining their calendar and coordinates
many of the day-to-day activities of the office staff.
Rose Broers is the first person visitors see when they come through the door of the International Programs. Her duties include answering the phone and distributing mail.
